Matt Pond PA

Matt Pond PA is one of those bands that I remember exactly where I was when I first heard their music. I was fifteen, making the scenic drive to upstate New York for a camp convention with two old friends and one of their father's. My friend Ron, who was in the front seat, looked back and said, "You guys have to listen to this song 'Halloween'". We sat in silence for the entire album. Matt Pond, the leader singer, had such an easy voice that seemed to glide over such inventive melodies. I'm not sure if it was the music or the drive through the mountains as the leaves were changing, but their album Several Arrows Later will always remind me of autumn. It is one of those CDs that make me feel nostalgic and warm inside.

Matt Pond PA have released a bunch of albums since (Last Light is definitely worth a listen), but if you're looking for a great fall album, check out Several Arrows Later. It's hard to explain, but you'll see why it's perfect for the season. Also, Matt Pond PA makes for a great live show, so if you ever get a chance, definitely go see them.
