Yellow Ostrich

Once again, Muzzle of Bees has led me to some top-notch music. I saw a post about Yellow Ostrich in IGIF, another great music blog, but sort of overlooked it. It wasn't until MOB claimed that "WHALE" might be one of his favorite tracks of the year that I decided to give them a listen.

Yellow Ostrich, or Alex Schaaf, has been creating quality DIY music for quite some time now. When making all of your music yourself, it's easy to fall into the "Wannabe" category. Whether you're trying too hard, or not trying hard enough, most DIY tunes just don't make the mark. But Yellow Ostrich surpasses the mark, with interesting syncopated rhythms, cool harmonies, and genuine talent.

All of Yellow Ostrich's albums and EP's, including his latest The Mistress, are available, name-your-own-price style, at their Bandcamp site. You can pay as little or as much as you want. Either way, I suggest you grab what you can, because this guy is going places.
